Weekend in Tucson

Keith and I spent this Memorial Day weekend with our parents in Tucson. It's always nice to see mom and dad and as a bonus I got to trade a cold, wet, and windy weekend in Seattle for sunshine and temperatures in the 80's! I felt the need to soak up as much vitamin D as possible while in Arizona. On Saturday we visited an arts festival at a mission in St. David, AZ. My brother decided to explore his hippie side and bought his first ever tie-dyed T-shirt (is this a mid-life crisis?). We then went to Tombstone and visited the cemetery at Boothill. The graveyard, just outside of Tombstone, is where several of the men who died in the gunfight at the OK Corrale are buried. As they like to say, "What happens in Tombstone, stays in Boothill."

On Sunday, we did a short desert hike to a viewpoint with spectacular views over Tucson. Then we cooled off with some beers and appetizers on University Street and did a walking tour of the University of Arizona campus. In the evening, it was off to Gavi's Italian for Keith's birthday dinner (just a few days ahead of his actual birthday). We dined outside, which is something we Seattlelites are not accustomed to in November!

On Monday, there was just enough time for a morning run in the sun, and then we had to pack and catch our flight home. It was such a wonderful weekend! Big thanks to our gracious hosts! I'm already looking forward to our next trip for the holidays.
