You Go, Girl!

My lifelong, dear friend Kristin O'Malley has to committed to run in her first half marathon. She'll be racing in the Nike Women's Half Marathon in San Francisco on October 21st. As a friend and supporter, this is a very special event for two reason. First and foremost, I am most impressed by Kristin's commitment to train while juggling the demands of a 1-year old, a very active 3-year old, 140 hormonally driven teenagers (not hers people...she's a high school teacher!) and her own school work. She's a courageous woman.

Secondly, and most importantly, Kristin is running to raise money for Leukemia research. She is running in support and honor of her Aunt Pam, who was diagnosed with Leukemia last year. Although Pam is currently in remission, she is still struggling with the horrible side effects of the treatment course. Chemotherapy is truly barbaric. I've had this thought many times over the past year as Pam has undergone this treatment. For the millions of cancer patients, we must find a better way. I applaud Kristin's efforts to raise money in support of medical research for this important cause.

Kristin has a fundraising goal of $3700. Check out her website.

My blond moment of the day-- In the acronym for Team In Training, I was wondering why they use the letter "N" to represent "In" instead of the "I". It took me a minute to figure it out.
