Desert Christmas
It's been a very busy week here in Tucson. Here's a sample of a few things we've done.
Last week we went to Kartchner Caverns and took a tour. I don't have any pictures from inside the cavern (something about light from the flash killing the micro-organisms in the cave...blah, blah, blah) but this picture is from outside the visitors center. It was so beautiful to see snow on the cactus. The caverns are at a higher elevation than Tucson, so this is the only place we've seen any snow!
Yesterday Keith and I hiked Picacho Peak. If you've ever driven on I-10 between Tucson and Phoenix you've certainly seen Picacho Peak which is a prominent feature in the desert landscape, right off the freeway. Quite the view from the top, but the hike up was a little tough for those of us who have a fear of heights. My arms are sore today from hanging onto those steel cables!
Here's a picture from Christmas morning. I guess I was nice and not naughty after all! Santa was very good to me (and it helps being one of his crew).
