Weekend in Whistler

Last weekend was my annual ski trip to Whistler. This year was my first attempt at snowboarding. It was a good start, but I think I need more practice before I'm off the bunny slope! My body was so sore after one day of snowboarding, I could barely ski after that. It was nice to take a break between boarding and skiing and watch some of the World Cup Nordic events which were being held last weekend at the Whistler Olympic venues. We got to see ski jumping as part of the Nordic combined, and cross country skiing, the women's 15K pursuit. Wow! Seeing world-class athletes on their skis will humble you, real quick. Since I doubt I'll get to go to the Olympics in 2010, it was nice to the World Cup live.

The other amazing part of the weekend was getting to finally ride the new peak-to-peak chair at Whistler-Blackcomb. What an amazing engineering feat and amazing views! Of course I forgot to bring my camera with me when I went to the top of the mountain, but here are a few pictures of the World Cup.

Night Lights

Since it's still officially the Christmas season (right?) I gave Christmas '08 one final hurrah on Friday night. Keith and I visited Garden D'Light, the Christmas light display at the Bellevue Botanical Garden. It was, well...d'lightful! Here's a small sample of what we saw.
