Left Coast, Right Coast

In July I was on the Atlantic. In August I headed for the Pacific. Keith and I spent last week on the Oregon Coast. No funny accents in Oregon (compared to Maine and eastern Canada) but there was still great entertainment-- beautiful beaches, Aquariums, kite flying, motorcycle riding on the 101 and, of course, more good seafood! We spent a few days in Pacific City (between Tillamook and Lincoln City) and got to visit with my Aunt Patti and Uncle Randy who were camping in their motor home. Together we visited Pacific Seafood in Bay City, OR and ate oyster stew and then onto the Tillamook Cheese Factory for ice cream. The next day Keith and I headed south to Newport where we visited the Coastal Aquarium, took morning runs on the beach, toured Yaquina Head Lighthouse and shopped in old town Newport. Then we made our way back north to Cannon Beach and Seaside were we shopped, flew our kites and had a great surf and turf dinner at Norma's Ocean Diner. Norma's Clam Chowder is recognized as one of the "10 Best Soups in U.S.A." by Bon Appetite Magazine and was winner of the "Chowder Cookoff" in Seaside. My verdict...de-lish-ous!!!! Perhaps the best restaurant chowder I've ever had but it certainly wasn't better than my mom's chowder. Sharon's clam chowder is still the best...hands down!
Here are a few pics from my trip:
